Treks to do in monsoon

Markha Valley Trek

In the Land of Llamas, Markha Valley is a cultural retreat. It’s an opportunity for you to immerse yourself in the culture of Leh’s highlands. Enjoy a homestay in Markha Settlement, the Markha Valley’s biggest village with an old temple and a ruined fort. The trek’s highest point is Kongmaru La, at 5200 metres, where you can see the Zanskar and Karakoram Ranges in all their glory.

Pin Bhaba Pass Trek

The Pin Bhaba Pass (also known as Tarik La) is located at the head of a magnificent alpine valley and separates Himachal Pradesh’s woods from Spiti’s desert expanse. Over the 16,000 ft + Bhaba Pass, the path follows the famed shepherd track between the lush Kinnaur valley and the harsh Pin valley in Spiti.

The bare terrain replaces the pine and cedar woods, significantly altering the scenery. You may reach Mudh by following the Pin river on the northern side of the pass. It offers the same vistas and transition to the dry Spiti Valley as the Pin Parvati Pass, but is easier and shorter.

Pin Parvati Pass Trek

Push yourself by hiking to the 5298-meter-high Pin Parvati Pass. This trip, like Hampta Pass, takes you across two different environments. The trip follows the Parvati River, sleeping on both sides of the glacial lake Mantalai and the Parvati Glacier. You will cross the pass and enter the dry Spiti Valley on the final day.

The entire walk takes you through breathtaking scenery. Odi Thach’s huge flat field seems like something out of a science fiction film. This is a fantastic choice if you’re planning a rainy hike.

The Great Lakes of Kashmir

If you’re thinking about visiting Kashmir, the heaven on earth, here’s a hike you can do during the monsoons. The Kashmir Great Lakes Trip is the only trek in the world where you will encounter a different lake every day. Each lake is bizarre and one-of-a-kind. At first glance, the allure of this location will sweep you off your feet.

Visit this spot during the monsoons, just when you think it can’t be any more gorgeous. The entire area is awash with vibrant flowers and huge fields. This location’s landscape is equally gorgeous and wonderful.

Kangri Stok Trek

Stok Kangri isn’t known for its rich vegetation or beautiful meadows. The journey is about the roughness and severity of the Himalayan Stok Ranges, as the name implies. The Karakoram Ranges to the north and the Zanskar Ranges to the south are visible as you near the summit.

There is no such thing as the monsoon at Stok Kangri. As a result, there are no landslides or constant downpours, making it an ideal monsoon trek in India, particularly during the months of July and August. As you ascend higher, though, you may expect severe snowfall. The summit of Stok Kangri is 6152 metres above sea level (highest on Himalayan Stok Range).

Valley of Flowers Trek

The Valley of Flowers has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason. Within the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, the main zone of this Uttarakhand hiking destination transforms into a carpet of flowers in a riot of colours, displaying incomparable natural beauty.

Monsoon season, which runs from June through October, is the greatest time to visit. Ghangaria is a good resting place after a 9-kilometer journey from Poolna. There are a lot of eateries and motels in the area that serve basic meals. After there, it’s another 3.7 kilometres before you’re finally resting in the lap of nature, surrounded by all things green.

Garbett Plateau Trek

Matheran is one of the well-known tourist destinations in Maharashtra. Hugh Poyntz Malet, the Thane district collector at the time, discovered the Garbett Plateau in 1850, and it now provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the whole Matheran range, making it a must-see. Your 2.5-hour hike up is nothing short of magnificent in the monsoon, with the plateau on one side, several waterfalls on the other, and the Bhivupri Lake below.

The Garbett Plateau is perhaps our favourite monsoon trek in Maharashtra since it has everything you could desire in a day’s hike. You pass a lovely lake, streams, and little waterfalls before finishing on a forest trail.
