I once visited in August, during the height of winter, and wore only a light jacket in the evening (while swimming in the Indian Ocean); however, my most recent visit was in November, and I enjoyed hot days perfect for lounging on the beach.
Another reason to visit Durban is its laid-back attitude. One of my favourite memories from my first visit was seeing businessmen change into wetsuits behind their pick-up trucks, get their surfboards out, and rush to catch the wave – it was their lunch break. This demonstrates how relaxed the city is.
